Privacy Policy

TaleWhisperer is a writing tool for novelists. Your manuscript is the most personal thing you could hand us, and we treat it that way. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and who touches it.

What we collect

• Account information. Your name, email address, and login credentials, handled by our authentication provider, Clerk.
• Your writing. Manuscripts, chapters, Codex entries, and related story material you create in the app, stored in our database so the product can work.
• Billing information. Subscription and payment details, handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
• Emails you send us. If you write to us, we keep the correspondence so we can help you.

How your manuscript is used

Your writing is processed by AI providers solely to power the features you invoke — continuity checks, critique, the Codex, and similar assistance. We do not use your writing to train our own models, and we do not sell it or share it for advertising. Our contracts with AI providers govern their use of the text sent to them for processing.

Who processes your data

We use a small set of subprocessors, each for a specific job:

• Clerk — authentication and account management
• Stripe — payments and subscription billing
• Vercel — application hosting and file storage (Vercel Blob)
• Neon — Postgres database hosting
• Anthropic — AI processing (Claude models)
• OpenAI — text embeddings for search, and cover/portrait image generation
• DeepSeek and Google — fallback AI providers, used only when a primary provider is unavailable
• Resend — transactional email, sent from deliver@talewhisperer.com
• Amazon— if you use Send-to-Kindle, your book is delivered to your @kindle.com address through Amazon’s service

Your own API keys

If you bring your own model key (BYOM), it is encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM and used only to make the AI calls you request.

Cookies

We use essential cookies only: authentication and session cookies from Clerk, and Stripe’s cookies during checkout. There is no advertising tracking on TaleWhisperer. None.

Retention and deletion

We keep your data for as long as you have an account, so your work is there when you return. To delete your account and its data, email hello@talewhisperer.com and we will take care of it.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time what data we hold about you, request a copy of it, correct it, or have it deleted. Email us and we will respond.

Children

TaleWhisperer is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know by email or in the app.
